The Office of Career Education and Professional Development (CEPD) knows you’re coming to college to get the education you need to land the career you’ve always dreamed of having.

We are here to support Gallaudet students and alumni in developing skills and identifying the resources needed to pursue and achieve their career goals.

Our office works with amazing employers and companies throughout the Washington DC metroplex, and nationwide to engage students, just like you, to get their foot in the door of their chosen field.

In the last year alone we’ve...

  • In partnership with ASL Connect, we hosted a webinar with 309+ employers showcasing 5 key modules on how to work with deaf/hard of hearing employees. The modules, developed by ASL Connect, are primed to become a revenue-generating mechanism for HR professionals and corporates who need to instill career readiness amongst their staff/colleagues.
  • Gallaudet in partnership with NTID, CSD, and NAD hosted a webinar entitled: Deaf/Hard of Hearing Employees During COVID-19: Best Practices? Masks? Communicating with Customers? that drew more than 563+ participants/employers.
  • Although Gallaudet was remote, we hosted 11 employer virtual career fairs with about 100+/- student and alumni interactions including an Intelligence Community Virtual Job Fair, U.S. General Services Administration Info Session, Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), Ernest Young, Defense Logistics Agency, DOD agencies recruitment fair, disABLED Virtual Career Fair, and Promotion of the Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) on their virtual career fair and student workshops.
  • In Fall 2020, Gallaudet hosted a Virtual Internship & Job fair that had more than 253+ students and 33 employers. Gallaudet also hosted a Spring Career Fair Series that featured 19 employers and 100+ students.
  • We completed 112 Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) applications that connected federal and private-sector employers nationwide with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to demonstrate their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs.
  • Gallaudet hosted their third Virtual Information Technology Summit that included PNC Bank, Procter & Gamble, General Dynamics Information Technology, Ernst & Young, Apple, National Security Agency, Google, Northrop Grumman, and Microsoft to name a few.
  • Gallaudet hosted GeoSpectrum with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) NGA Summit that celebrated the signing of the Educational Partnership Agreement (EPA) which includes the creation of internship and career pipeline.

Workforce Recruitment Program

The Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) is a federal program that managed by the US Department of Labor. The program's objective is to connect government agencies and private companies with college students and recent graduates with disabilities for internship and part-time/full-time job opportunities. The recruitment cycle, which includes online registration, application and video interview, begins each year in late August. Please check the Bison CareerLink in early fall for updates regarding the program. Information will also be posted on Gallaudet's Daily Digest. Robersy was the first in his family to enroll in college at Gallaudet University. Delgado graduated in 2020 and after completing his virtual internship at Procter & Gamble and was offered a full-time position.

Nicholas H., a junior who is majoring in Biology, is currently doing an internship at the Loggerhead MarineLife Center (LMC), where he works with the sea turtle population.

Joseline graduated in 2021 and accepted a full-time position at PNC headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Jacob A. joined Ernst and Young as an Accountant in Virginia. Adams was recruited after he participated in the 2nd Annual IT Summit event at Gallaudet University.

Brynn S. graduated from Gallaudet with her Bachelor’s degree and went on to get her Master’s in Accounting from UT Austin. She joined Erst and Young as Assurance Staff in Pennsylvania.

Jad G, an RMI graduate, passed the New York State insurance broker license exam. Soon after he was offered a position of Concierge Client Services at Arthur J Gallagher in New York City.
