We are excited that you chose CCOE for your continuing education journey! As a new or returning student, you will need to activate your Gallaudet email account to access your email, Bison, and Blackboard.

The following information below is designed to assist you in setting up your password and activating your accounts. It may take up to 48 hours for your account to be activated. All future communications will be directed to your Gallaudet email.

Below are the steps to activate your account:

Step 1: ACTIVATE YOUR SINGLE SIGN-ON (SSO)

This Single Sign-On (SSO) allows you to move freely within the same browser session between our different platforms. Gallaudet Technology Services (GTS) has created a video to demonstrate using Single Sign-On with our web services. SSO will give you access to your Gallaudet email, your Bison account (also known as PeopleSoft), Blackboard (our Learning Management System), and MyGU (our intranet).

A. To activate your Gallaudet account, visit gallaudet.edu/newuser. You must use your full legal name to establish your account (Your username will be firstname.lastname). You will need your date of birth and the last four digits of your Gallaudet ID to set up an account password.

ATTENTION: Your Gallaudet domain account (which includes your access to Email, Bison and Blackboard) will not be ready for set up until the next business day. Therefore, please wait up to 48 hours before following the instructions below to create a new password.

If you have difficulty setting up your username or logging in, please contact the Gallaudet IT Service Desk at (202) 651-5044 (Voice) or (202) 250-2314 (Videophone). You may also email any questions to the IT Service Desk from your personal email to itservicedesk@gallaudet.edu. You can also submit a service ticket online.

Provide your full legal name, date of birth and student ID # in your email.


Step 2: ACCESS YOUR GALLAUDET E-MAIL

  1. In your browser, visit mail.gallaudet.edu, and enter your Gallaudet email address (firstname.lastname@gallaudet.edu) and your Gallaudet account password.
  2. Gallaudet uses Google 2-Step Verification as an added layer of security. Upon your fist login, you will need to activate the 2-step Verification to be able to use your Gallaudet email.

Step 3: LOG INTO YOUR BISON ACCOUNT

  1. Bison is an online portal that allows you to view your class schedule, grade reports, and related information. To log in, visit bison.gallaudet.edu
    1. Press the blue “Campus Solutions” button.
    2. When prompted, enter your username (firstname.lastname) and password.

Step 4: LOG INTO BLACKBOARD

  1. Blackboard is a course management system. You will access all course information through Blackboard. To log in, visit gallaudet.blackboard.com and enter your username (firstname.lastname@gallaudet.edu) and password.
  2. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE. If you need technical assistance, go to gallaudet.edu/itservicedesk to submit an IT Service Desk ticket OR email itservicedesk@gallaudet.edu from your personal email.

BLACKBOARD ORIENTATION

  1. Navigate to Blackboard Help at help.blackboard.com. This site will help you become more familiar with online computing, and some of the tools for using Blackboard. How to Access to Blackboard.
    1. For individualized help, contact eLearning at gallaudet.edu/itservicedesk.

Note: Your courses in Blackboard will be accessible on the first day of class. Your instructor will notify you when the courses are available.

TEXTBOOKS AND COURSE MATERIALS

Textbook information can be found by visiting gallaudet.ecampus.com and clicking on the current semester. Various departments will be listed on the site. Click "PST" and then, click on your course number. If you do not find your course or your textbooks, please contact your instructor for further information.
