Gallaudet University will host separate Commencement ceremonies for our undergraduate and graduate classes. Our students shall celebrate their academic achievements with their fellow students, families, and friends!

The commencement ceremonies are for our graduates and their ticketed guests only.
Those who wish to attend the undergraduate ceremony in the afternoon without a ticket are welcome to watch the ceremony in Elstad Theatre on the large screen. Both ceremonies will be live streamed as well.
The commencement keynote speaker is a notable figure selected to offer advice, reflections, and congratulations to motivate our graduating classes to share their knowledge and skills they learned at the University with the world.
These students will have the opportunity to speak to all the graduating students, family, friends, and the community to share their journeys, experiences, stories, insights, and advice to prepare for the future after Gallaudet University. It is a distinguished honor for a student to be selected as Undergraduate and/or Graduate Commencement Speaker.

In effort to provide an accessible celebration for our graduating Bison, their families, and friends, Gallaudet will provide accommodations upon request. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for accessible accommodations.
For our students who may need accommodations, the Accommodation Request Form is posted on MyGU. (Students need to fill this information out on behalf of their guests)
This does not include English voice interpreters and/or American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters, they are already provided during Commencement.

Tickets are required to attend the ceremony. Tickets are not required for children under the age of 5 years old. Children without tickets must sit on their parents’ lap.
Students will receive up to five guest tickets; for additional tickets please contact Commencement@gallaudet.edu
As soon as the number of tickets allocated to graduating students is confirmed, The Commencement Committee will communicate with graduating students through email@example.com when the link to the Accessible Seating Ticket Request form is available for you to fill out on behalf of your family members.

It is recommended for your family and friends to arrive at Field House at least 30 minutes before the ceremony. There will be three separate entrances, one entrance will be for VIP guests, another entrance will be for those with accessible tickets, and the last entrance will be for those with regular tickets.
Guests may stand to take photos or videos at the ceremony only at the designated location as instructed by our staff and ushers on duty. We must make sure all aisles must be left clear for safety purposes and also in consideration of other guests who wish to see and enjoy the ceremony.

Gallaudet will not require collection of COVID-19 vaccination cards due to Washington, D.C. no longer requiring proof of vaccination cards. COVID testing is also not required of visiting guests (although vaccination and weekly testing are still required of all Gallaudet students, faculty and staff).
Gallaudet is in YELLOW mask status, which means that everyone (graduating students, faculty, staff, speakers, and guests) is required to wear masks at all times indoors. Masks are optional but encouraged outdoors.
Gallaudet requires that masks are KN95, N95, BendShape, or Safe ‘N’ Clear. Cloth masks and surgical masks are accepted only if doubled up.For more information, please view gu.live/mask.
Both ceremonies are only for the Class of 2022. We had virtual ceremonies for the Classes of 2020 and 2021. Some individuals have asked if members of these two classes will be joining the Class of 2022 on May 13. This will not be possible.
Please enter the campus at the main entry from Florida Avenue and 8th Street NE. Access is also open at the 6th Street and Neal Place NE entrance from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, May 13.
Exiting the campus will be possible from one of these points: Florida Avenue and 8th Street NE, 6th Street and Neal Place NE, or West Virginia Avenue and Penn St NE.
Limited parking is available on campus; we encourage you to consider taking alternate transportation to campus if you are able to do so.
