How to receive CAPS services during and after business hours
The Counseling and Psychological Services' (CAPS's) mission of service, training, and advocacy focuses on the mental health needs of Gallaudet students and the deaf community.
We support the academic and social-emotional development of Gallaudet students by providing high quality assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and prevention programs. We also provide consultation services for faculty and staff and contribute to the student paraprofessional training programs. CAPS also maintains a high quality training program for graduate students that works to increase the number of qualified professionals serving the mental health needs of the Deaf community.
Through education and information dissemination, CAPS advocates for improved mental health services for deaf and hard of hearing people. Contact us and see how we can help.
The Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) department is committed to providing culturally affirming services to the campus community. CAPS follows the multicultural guidelines and professional standards developed by the professional organizations and licensing boards of which the staff are members. CAPS strives to create a safe and supportive climate where students feel comfortable exploring diversity in its broadest sense.
