Since 1971, the Department of Counseling has graduated and placed more than 750 outstanding counselors now working in a wide range of counseling settings throughout the world. Graduates from the department work in diverse environments, including schools, community mental health agencies, residential treatment facilities, hospitals, private practice and federal, state and local government agencies.
Specialty areas are also diverse and include play therapy, addictions counseling, vocational rehabilitation and functional behavioral assessment, as well as individual, family, couples and group counseling. In addition to traditional counseling roles, graduates also use their skills to work as educators, researchers, consultants and advocates.
All recent Department of Counseling alumni are employed.
