ASL Requirement

  • Students are expected to be continuously enrolled in ASL classes at Gallaudet until they have successfully completed (or tested our of ) PST 303.

Residency Requirement

  • Students are expected to spend two years "in residence." This involves spending 15 hours per week on campus and/or in an affiliated lab. Typically, the first two years of the program are the residency years, while the student is frequently on campus for classes. 

Other Requirements

  • Qualifying examination at the end of the second or third semester
  • Pre-dissertation project, typically in conjunction with the PhD research internship
  • Candidacy examination
  • Dissertation
