The Department of Interpretation and Translation is a vibrant home for students, faculty, and colleagues to examine the products and processes of interpretation and translation, with specific focus on products and processes of the work. A critical mission of the Department of Interpretation and Translation is to create and share research about signed language interpreting and translation for the advancement of these practices. Students and faculty are engaged in a number of interrelated research and program initiatives related to research through DOI faculty research, BAI Student Research, MAI Student Research, and PhD Student Research. Doctoral students in the Department of Interpretation and Translation are paired with contributing scholars who offer their expertise and guidance to students' development as emerging scholars. Visiting Scholars enhance the climate of academic discourse through collaboration on research studies both at the national and international level. The Department of Interpretation and Translation also advances dialogue about research through initiatives such as the Colloquium Lecture Series, the Summer Interpreting and Translation Research Institute, and the International Symposium on Signed Language Interpreting and Translation Research. The Department of Interpretation and Translation (DoIT) is dedicated to promoting these rich research opportunities within signed language interpreting and translation communities both on campus and worldwide. Enjoy the DoIT world of research and please contact us with any questions. Brenda NicodemusDirectorDepartment of Interpretation and Translation (DoIT)brenda.nicodemus@gallaudet.edu
