As an information technology major, you will work closely with our faculty of talented scholars in a program that is career-oriented and flexible. Professors are dedicated to teaching and mentoring and bring extensive professional experience to their courses.
Information technology professionals harness computer technology to serve the needs of business, government, healthcare, education, manufacturing, entertainment and other sectors. You will gain knowledge and practical expertise in current and emerging technologies to prepare for a career in network and system administration, information security, database applications, web development, software integration and helpdesk/end-user support.

Gallaudet offers numerous opportunities to build your resume and your skills with applied technology experiences. Professors often engage students in national competitions and real projects. Department faculty and the Career Center also help students find summer internships in Washington, D.C., and throughout the United States and Canada.

Employment in many computer and information technology occupations is growing quickly.
Employment of information security analysts is projected to grow 37 percent from 2012 to 2022, much faster than the average for all occupations. Most analysts must have a bachelor's degree and usually need related experience.
Computer systems analysts generally need a bachelor's degree. Employment is projected to grow 25 percent during this same time period, much faster than the average.
Computer network architects and database administrators generally need a bachelor's degree and work experience. Employment is projected to grow 15 percent, faster than the average.
Most network and systems administrators need a bachelor's degree. Employment is projected to grow 12 percent, about as fast as the average.
