Theater Alliance's "World Becomes Flesh" by Marc Bamuthi Joseph won five awards out of 10 nominations during the 33rd annual Helen Hayes Awards held on May 15, 2017, held at the Lincoln Theatre and the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.
On May 24, 2017, Gallaudet and Western Piedmont Community College established a collaborative agreement which allows students in WPCC’s Associate of Applied Science in Interpreter Education degree program to transfer credits into Gallaudet's BAI program.
