LEVEL IV
Reading: Read English at the low intermediate level as adapted from the ACTFL / CEFR proficiency guidelines.
Vocabulary: Acquire vocabulary knowledge consisting of at least 2320 words.
Writing: Write English at the low intermediate level as adapted from the ACTFL / CEFR proficiency guidelines. Compose narrative, descriptive, comparative, persuasive essays in 3-5 paragraphs.
Critical Thinking: Draw inferences and find evidence to support generalizations.
Technical Skills: Enhance skill in doing basic research and making presentations.
Communication Skills: Enhance low intermediate skills in both written English and ASL adequate for functioning in both academic and everyday environments.
Cross-cultural Awareness: Create slideshows/presentations or final projects to manifest cultural diversity.
LEVEL V
Reading: Read English at the intermediate level as adapted from the ACTFL / CEFR proficiency guidelines.
Vocabulary: Acquire vocabulary knowledge consisting of at least 3000 words.
Writing: Write English at the intermediate level as adapted from the ACTFL / CEFR proficiency guidelines. Compose narrative, descriptive, comparative, persuasive essays in 5-7 paragraphs.
Critical Thinking: Evaluate opinions by judgments about information, validity of ideas, or quality of work based on a set of criteria.
Technical Skills: Enhance skill in doing basic research and making presentations.
Communication Skills: Enhance intermediate skills in both written English and ASL adequate for functioning in both academic and everyday environments.
Cross-cultural Awareness: Create slideshows/presentations or final projects to manifest cultural diversity.
Level VI
Reading: Read English at the high intermediate level as adapted from the ACTFL / CEFR proficiency guidelines.
Vocabulary: Acquire vocabulary knowledge consisting of at least 3680 words.
Writing: Write English at the high intermediate level as adapted from the ACTFL / CEFR proficiency guidelines. Compose narrative, descriptive, comparative, persuasive essays in 5-7 paragraphs.
