For the fourth consecutive year, Gallaudet University participated in the H Street Festival. Held along 10 blocks of nearby H Street, NE, the festival provides residents, merchants, and restaurants with the opportunity to celebrate the unique culture of the neighborhood with an outdoor block party.
This year marked the 19th H Street Festival, and organizers expected more than 125,000 attendees. Bison cheerleaders kicked off the festival by signing the National Anthem on the main stage alongside a guest singer. A large crowd gathered at the Gallaudet stage at 13th and H streets throughout the day to watch dance and ASL performances by students from the Kendall Demonstration Elementary School and Gallaudet, as well as staff and alumni. Additionally, the Gallaudet Art Department displayed student artwork in the “Art Block.”
Gallaudet also sponsored interpreting services for the main stage on 8th and H Streets.
