Do you need help with using Blackboard? Need to create a presentation and don’t know how to get started?
The eLearning Center can help you with this and much more. Our staff are on hand to support faculty, teachers, staff, and students in learning how to use software and hardware tools to achieve your teaching and learning goals. We support academic, educational, and personal uses of technology for the university and the Clerc Center (K-12) campuses.
We can assist faculty and teachers in enhancing on-campus and distance learning student experiences by effectively and strategically using available features of the learning management system, collaboration tools, video tools, test proctoring tools, and much more. We can help you add engaging, media-rich content in your courses. We can help you ensure that your content is accessible to students with a wide range of needs. We can also offer training workshops for your classes, department, or workgroups.
We stay abreast of, and continually research, new and emerging tools and trends in academic, educational, and research technology. If there’s something you need or would like to see, let us know. We also recognize that not all students (or faculty and staff) are equally digitally literate or fluent. We have a lot of great resources for you too. Don’t be shy with your questions!
The eLearning Center also partners with teams across campus that support faculty and students. We host a bi-monthly Teaching and Learning with Technology committee made up of faculty members from each academic department. The committee provides feedback on proposed technology updates that will impact teaching and they serve as liaisons between their department and Gallaudet Technology Services.
You can contact us by submitting an IT Service Desk ticket or stopping by the center (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m-5 p.m.). We provide online, self-paced Blackboard orientations for faculty and new students. We also offer workshops and trainings on a variety of topics by request.
The eLearning Center is located in the Jordan Student Academic Center (JSAC) in the Harkin Digital Learning Center (HDLC), Room 1100 and is open from 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 a.m. [Note: The eLearning Center recently relocated from the Merrill Learning Center.]
