Federal Student Aid, a part of the U.S. Department of Education (ED), is the largest provider of student financial aid in the nation. We offer more than $150 billion each year to help millions of students pay for higher education.
Gradsense.org is a website designed to help students make informed financial decisions about their education and careers. It was launched by the Council of Graduate Schools and TIAA-CREF.
Students can enter information into the portal, e.g., their desired degree type, field of study, and preferred career and will obtain results pertaining to the median debt of students pursuing such a degree as well as expected salary levels in their chosen career.
Many departments offer students assistance in the form of tuition scholarships or tuition assistantships. Tuition scholarships can be full or partial. Tuition assistantships provide both a full tuition scholarship as well as a monthly stipend.
Departments choose outstanding candidates from their applicant pool. Applicants should inform the department to which they are applying of their interest in being considered for an award.
At the end of the school year, the Graduate School and the academic departments recognize outstanding students at Hooding and Awards ceremony.
Federal Work Study (FWS) is a federally sponsored program that enables eligible students to earn income through part-time employment with select organizations, including the university, local nonprofit organizations, and government agencies.
You can optimize your search for financial aid by learning to use various Internet search engines and by visiting Applications and Other Useful Links provided by the Office of Financial Aid. Please note that not all of the sites listed on that website are graduate student-related.
Gallaudet's Office of Financial Aid, located in Chapel Hall, has all the information you need about qualifying for, applying for, and receiving financial aid.
