Walk-In Schedule

The Hearing and Speech Center is located on the second floor of the Sorenson Language and Communications Center in room 2200.

Please Note:
It is suggested that you arrive up to 10 minutes prior to the start of the walk in for the opportunity to be seen. There are a maximum number of people seen during walk-in depending on the request. Also, there is an office visit fee of $20 for most walk-in services. Be aware, there is a possibility you will not see if the walk-in capacity is full.

Inclement Weather Policy

Gallaudet Hearing and Speech Clinic follows the decision of the University. If the University makes a decision to close operations for the day or if there is a delayed opening or early closing, the information will be posted to the Gallaudet home page, www.gallaudet.edu. If you have a scheduled appointment or plan on coming in for our Walk In service, we strongly encourage you to check the website first to ensure the University is open and the hours of operation. Additionally, all scheduled clients will receive an email from the clinic notifying them of any closures or schedule changes as soon as a decision is made. Please be sure that we have a current email on file.

Walk-In Schedule

The GUHSC is now holding Audiology walk-in services twice a day! We hope that this will make utilizing these services easier for our clients.

*** The clinic center will be closed on Wednesdays, 12:00 noon to 2:30 pm until further notice. *** 

The Clinic Center will be closed from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm on December 11, 2018 (Tuesday)

Walk-in for 2018 - 2019: Through January 19, 2019

Monday: 9:00 am and 1:30pm
Tuesday: 9:30 am and 1:30 pm
Wednesday: 9:30 am and 3:00 pm
Thursday: 9:30 am 
Friday: 9:30 am and 3:00 pm

We ask your patience when this happens and suggest that if you are coming from off-campus you call 202/651-5328 V/TTY or 202-250-2119 (toll free 866-957-1232) VRS or email guhsc@gallaudet.edu to make sure we are open and an audiologist is on duty (if no TTY answer please call back via relay to leave a voice message).

We are very sensitive to the fact that walk-in times have been VERY BUSY the last few semesters. Most of this is due to the increase in the number of people using digital hearing aids. We can only see a certain number of people during walk-in and unfortunately, we have had to turn clients (both Gallaudet and Outpatient) away more often than we would like. In an effort to better meet the needs of all our clients, we are trying different scheduling options for some services. Please check the list below for appropriate WALK-IN services or talk with the secretary to set up an appointment if necessary.

- Earmold fittings

- Earmold tubing replacement
- Hearing aid troubleshooting
- Sending hearing aids for repair
- Picking up repairs
- Picking up loaner aid or trial aid
- Hearing check for Metro ID card
- Hearing aid fittings for conventional technology ONLY

The following services are NOT appropriate for Walk-in times:
- Hearing aid fittings for new users
- Hearing aid fittings with digital technology
- Hearing aid check during 30-day trial period following new purchase
- Complete hearing test
- Hearing aid programming changes OF ANY KIND
