If you have dependents under your insurance plans (other than a spouse or domestic partner), please ensure you are aware of the age limit on each plan. It is the employee's responsibility to notify Human Resources once their dependents reach the age limit. Employees must complete the appropriate benefits form in order to remove their dependents from their benefit(s). Federal Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP): Unmarried children are covered up at age 22. Dependents who are incapable of self-support by reason of mental or physical incapacity that occurred before the age of 22 may continue to be covered. Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program: Children may remain covered under FEHB until age 26, regardless of marital status. Once they turn 26, it is possible to continue coverage under the Temporary Continuation of Coverage (TCC) for up to 36 months. Under TCC, the employee would be responsible for 102% of the premium. Dependents who are incapable of self-support by reason of mental or physical incapacity that occurred before the age of 26 may continue to be covered. Federal Employees Group Life Insurance (FEGLI): Unmarried children can be covered under Option C (Family Life Insurance) up until age 22. Dependents who are incapable of self-support by reason of mental or physical incapacity that occurred before the age of 22 may continue to be covered.
