After School Programs
KDES offers a comprehensive after-school program designed to promote recreational and educational learning among peers. The goal is to help students develop a lifelong appreciation for sports and recreation through the activities offered.
A broad range of recreational activities and after-school homework assistance is available to students from Monday through Thursday (3:15-5 p.m.). Activities are geared towards student interests and may change based on season, facility availability, and student participation.
Current activities include:
ASL/Drama - 3:15-4:15 p.m.
Arts & Crafts - 3:15-4:15 p.m.
Homework Help - 3:15-4:15 p.m.
Recreational Activities - 3:15-5 p.m.
Swimming - 3:15-5 p.m. (Thursdays only)
Students in Grades 5-8 may also participate in the KDES Athletics Program.
KDES takes great pride in its athletics program. We offer the following sports to students in grades 5-8:
Fall - flag football, volleyball
Winter - boys & girls basketball
Spring - softball, track & field
All of our teams compete in the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference. We compete locally against private and public schools as well as schools for the deaf.
