Each day, Washington, D.C., makes political headlines. Watch it for yourself in a tour of the U.S. Capitol, the Supreme Court or the White House. Visit the Washington Post or bureaus of the major TV networks to see inside the media.
Or better yet, begin making career connections through an internship with one of the many national and international agencies, organizations and businesses headquartered in the District.
Since 1864, when U.S. President Abraham Lincoln signed our charter, Gallaudet University has influenced the national discussion on the education and rights of deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
Ten U.S. Presidents from Ulysses S. Grant to Bill Clinton have visited campus. The 1988 Deaf President Now movement at the university led to passage of the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). And our professors and students continue to influence Federal Communications Commission policy, technological advances and educational initiatives.
