Gallaudet President T. Alan Hurwitz launches president’s video message series entitled “On the Green with Alan”
Who: Dr. T. Alan Hurwitz, Gallaudet University’s tenth president and third deaf president.
What: A new video message series entitled “On The Green with Alan” in which President Hurwitz speaks to the campus community and the public at large on a wide range of noteworthy Gallaudet-related topics.
Why: While many university presidents communicate through regular “President’s Blog”-style messages, President Hurwitz communicates using American Sign Language (ASL). As such, his regular public messages are delivered via videotaped messages presented in ASL and accompanied with closed captions and audio voiceover.
“On The Green with Alan” messages help promote awareness and recognition of American Sign Language, a centuries-old visual language modality, through 21st century technology that allows for widespread dissemination of those messages among the public at large.
When and Where: The April 12 edition of “On The Green with Alan” is now posted at www.gallaudet.edu/Office_of_the_President/On_The_Green_with_Alan.html
The next edition of “On The Green with Alan” will be published the first week of May. Visit the Gallaudet University Office of the President’s home page for more information at www.gallaudet.edu/Office_of_the_President.html.
