The Executive Committee of Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS), the only international business fraternity for students of insurance, risk management and actuarial science, unanimously approved Gallaudet University as its newest chapter, allowing students in the Maguire Academy of Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program to become part of this organization.
Gallaudet University’s GIS chapter will be advised by James Bruner, executive director of RMI, and a group of students who are honored and excited to be a part of this organization.
“This will not only give Gallaudet’s new RMI national recognition but will allow students more access to insurance professionals, other chapter functions, networking, internship and job placement opportunities,” said Bruner.
RMI student Zachary Israel (Frederick, Md.) will represent Gallaudet at the GIS Leadership Conference in Columbus, Ohio, August 26-28, 2016.
Information on the chapter’s chartering ceremony will be forthcoming.
GIS pursues a mission to promote and encourage student interest in the industry as a profession while encouraging the high moral and scholastic attainments of its members. Since its incorporation in 1965, GIS has chartered 69 chapters across North America and boasts an annual membership of more than 3,000 students and an alumni population of over 22,000.
