Ben and Renee Finkin, sweethearts since high school at the Lexington School for the Deaf in NYC, lived well into their 90's. They were advocates of progressive thought and civic involvement, and gave generously of their time and wealth to the causes they cared about. They served as president and secretary of the Hebrew Association of the Deaf in NYC for 20 years.
Ben was a draftsman and owned his own business, but despite his success, he spoke often of his regret that he was never able to attend college. A lifelong student with an ardent love for learning about health, science and government, he often presented talks at deaf conferences. In 2010, he received a lifetime achievement award from the Hebrew Association of the Deaf for his commitment to learning and sharing knowledge.
The scholarship is for any student based on need or merit as determined by the University.
Please join us in making a donation to the Ben & Renee Finkin Scholarship Fund which supports students who are involved in clubs and/or civic life on campus.
