Meet us at the Maguire Welcome Center

Located in the lobby of the Edward Miner Gallaudet Memorial Building (EMG), the Maguire Welcome Center, is s state-of-the-art multimedia enhanced facility that serves as a gateway to our campus.

Student Ambassadors

Join a Tour

Student Ambassadors lead tours in American Sign Language (ASL) along with voice interpreters. These tours begin at the Maguire Welcome Center. You will learn about Gallaudet, its academic programs, residential and commuter life, and our extensive array of curricular and co-curricular activities.

Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD)

Deaf high schoolers from all over the United States live and thrive, academically and socially, at MSSD.

Kendall Demonstration Elementary School (KDES)

Deaf youth from Washington, D.C., or neighboring counties of Virginia and Maryland are eligible to attend KDES, which serves preK to 8th grade.

Upon leaving campus, the bilingual environment doesn’t end there! One may order food, get coffee, do their banking, and get customer support using American Sign Language.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)

Just under 7 miles, and 13 minutes via car from Gallaudet University. This is the closest airport to downtown Washington DC. Visitors can either take a bus, or a taxi, or a subway from DCA to Union Station or NoMa/Gallaudet U Metro Station.
Washington Dulles International Airport

Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Located 26 miles from Washington, DC in Chantilly, Virginia. It is about a 40-minute drive from downtown Washington, DC. There are plenty of shuttles and taxis to transport visitors around the region.
Baltimore-Washington International Airport

Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)

Commonly known as BWI Airport is located south of Baltimore. The MARC and Amtrak train station is nearby offering train service to Union Station in Washington, DC from BWI Airport.

Union Station (Washington Metro)

Union Station (Washington Metro)

is located under the western end of the main Union Station on the Red Line, where visitors can make connections to Amtrak intercity trains, Virginia Railway Express, and MARC commuter rail trains to Maryland, West Virginia, and the suburbs.

From the parking lot at Union Station to multiple drop-off points on campus, a daily shuttle runs multiple times. Have a look at the schedule that offers free daily service to Union Station for our guests, students, faculty and staff.
NoMa/Gallaudet Metro Station​

NoMa/Gallaudet Metro Station

NoMa/Gallaudet Metro Station is an elevated platform station on the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s (WMATA) Metro system. It is in the Red Line network and positioned between Union and Rhode Island Avenue – Brentwood stations. It is just a short, 12-minute walk (0.6 miles) from our campus.

In addition to the Metro station, the city’s 09/92 bus lines have a stop right in front of the campus’ main entry.

Where to park

There is plenty of parking available on campus. Some parking areas may be subject to fees depending on the reason for your visit and length of stay. Learn what it costs and how to get a parking pass.
