Any student wishing to request cancellation of their housing assignment must submit a Housing Cancellation Request Form (available online only). Housing cancellations will not be in effect until officially approved by the Housing Operations Manager.
During fall semesters (for the upcoming spring semesters), Housing Cancellation Forms must be completed before November 15 to avoid the $500 cancellation fee. Please note that if you complete the Housing Cancellation form after November 15, the $500 cancellation fee will automatically apply.
During spring semesters (for the upcoming fall semesters), Housing Cancellation Forms can be completed anytime, but before Room Lottery takes place is preferred. Please note that if you secure a room via Room Lottery, the $500 cancellation fee will automatically apply.
Please review the Housing Contract and Terms of Occupancy for more information on the consequences of cancelling the room assignment. The Terms of Occupancy will automatically be sent via Gallaudet e-mail to students who complete the Housing Application form online via bison.gallaudet.edu.

Requests for cancellation are only considered for the following reasons:

Students may also request cancellation of their housing contracts in the following situations. In these cases, if approved, the students will be released from their housing contract without being assessed the $500 Housing Cancellation Fee.

In the event that a student does not arrive to check into their campus assignment and has not submitted a Housing Cancellation Request Form by 5pm on the last day of business registration, the following will occur:
CANCELLATION/CHANGE REQUEST APPEAL
In the event that a student's request for cancellation or assignment change is denied, the student may choose to submit a written appeal to the Director of Residence Life and Housing at email@example.com. All appeals must be submitted in writing within five (5) working days of receipt of the decision. All materials in the case will be reviewed and final decisions will be communicated in writing, normally within three working days of receipt of the appeal.
