English Coaches meet with students to provide feedback on academic and business writing, for one time appointments or on-going basis. They must have superior knowledge of the writing process and different kinds of academic writing such as essays, summaries and research papers.
Job Responsibilities• Assess compositions' strengths and weaknesses • Provide assistance in helping students get started on assignments• Provide reading support• Suggest changes in the area of grammar, clarity or organization • Capable of working independently• Demonstrate punctuality and reliability• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills • Document reports onto Starfish• Participate in meetings/training• Take CRLA 1/Regular Tutor training within a month of hiring
Prerequisites for Employment• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher• Good signing and receptive skills • Have B or higher in grade in course(s) to be tutored
