Two Gallaudet University alumnae have been named to the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Audiology. Sarah Sydlowski, PhD ’10, is president-elect, and Samantha Kleindienst Robler, G-’08, AuD ’09, & PhD ’14, is a new board member. They are the first known Gallaudet graduates to serve on the AAA board.

Dr. Sydlowski is audiology director of the Hearing Implant Program at the Cleveland Clinic and Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology, Head, and Neck Surgery at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Kent State University and the University of Akron, where she teaches the graduate Implantable Technologies course.

Dr. Robler works in population health and clinical informatics for Norton Sound Health Corporation in northwest Alaska. She leads the advancement of telemedicine utilization in audiology and across the hospital. She conducts clinical research in several areas and currently is co-principal investigator for a large cluster randomized trial funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. The trial is looking to address childhood hearing loss disparities in the rural Alaska Native population utilizing novel mobile health technology and telemedicine for prevention. Robler publishes in the area of telemedicine and access to hearing healthcare, lectures at the graduate level, and presents nationally and internationally. Read more here.
