Student Ambassadors lead tours in American Sign Language (ASL) along with voice interpreters. These tours begin at the Maguire Welcome Center. You will learn about Gallaudet, its academic programs, residential and commuter life, and our extensive array of curricular and co-curricular activities.

With a walkability score of 93 and the largest city on the East coast recognized as a “Gold” Bicycle Friendly Community by the league of American Bicyclists, the neighborhood around Gallaudet is one of the most walkable and bikeable neighborhoods in the country.
Located next to the university, Union Street Market is a great place for students to browse local businesses, shop, eat, and enjoy the occasional live performance.
Literally a few steps away, The H Street Corridor has plenty to offer. From outdoor events to delicious eateries to early bird Bullfrog Bagels,young deaf and hard of hearing professionals often flock to the area to socialize and relax.
To travel anywhere else in the city, you can access our free campus shuttle bus to Union Station, or use the Metro, Streetcar, and local buses.
