Call for nominations for Visionary Leaders!
In celebration of Gallaudet University's upcoming sesquicentennial celebration entitled 150 Years of Visionary Leadership a "Visionary Leader" will be featured each month beginning in September 2013 through November 2014. The Sesquicentennial Steering Committee is calling for nominations from the campus community and from alumni around the world to nominate "Visionary Leaders" to be featured throughout the 15-month long sesquicentennial celebrations.
The deadline to submit a nomination is April 30, 2013.
Selection criteria:
- Alumni of Gallaudet 1864 – present
- Must show a demonstrated, significant impact on society, in a major field of study or research, culture or the arts, deaf education or advocacy, etc.
- Documented history exists (original research not required)
- Not a current or former President of the University (Presidents will be honored in other ways)
- Not a current faculty or staff member
- Composite list will be representative of the diversity of alums
- Composite list will be representative, as much as possible, of the full 150 year history
Nominations can be submitted online in ASL or English. Nominations must include the following:
- Name
- Year of graduation (or approximate if not known)
- A brief explanation of why you think this candidate meets the selection criteria and should be considered a “visionary leader.” Maximum 100 words or 1 minute video.
- Source for the information provided.
If submitting a nomination in ASL via video, either include a link to the video in the form or email your video to public.relations@gallaudet.edu with Visionary Leader Nomination in the subject line. Include all of the required information listed above and include your contact information in case the committee needs to follow up with you on your nomination.
A Selection Committee representing students, faculty, alumni and staff is being convened. The Selection Committee will review all the submissions and make recommendations for the 15 final “Visionary Leaders” based on the selection criteria listed above.
