Innovation Lab

Gallaudet University is in the early planning stages for the Innovation Lab, a creative and cultural center to be located in a new landmark building on the Gallaudet campus in northeast Washington D.C. The Lab will serve as a nexus linking talent and new investment to advance the region’s economic competitiveness and the university’s standing in the intellectual marketplace. Under one roof, the Washington area’s unique mix of scholars, artists, and policy makers will interact with local citizens and entrepreneurs to explore the vast reaches of human diversity and translate these discoveries to the marketplace. These creative endeavors will foster new academic discourse and innovation for many of the area’s leading industries while catalyzing sustainable and socially just development for the local community.
The Innovation Lab will be located on the northeast corner of Florida Avenue, NE and 6th Street in a new landmark building that serves as a gateway between the Gallaudet campus and the Capital City Market area. Since 1925 the aging Capital City Market has served as the District’s primary wholesale specialty food market and an international place of exchange for merchandise, language, and culture.
