Accreditation
The Department of Education is part of the Professional Education Unit at Gallaudet University, which is accredited by the State Education Agency-Board of Education of the District of Columbia and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The following Certification programs have been approved by the State Education Agency-Board of Education of the District of Columbia:
- Deaf Education (M.A.)
- Early Childhood Education (B.A.)
- Elementary Education (B.A.)
- Physical Education: K-12 (B.S.)
- Secondary Education - Biology (B.A.)
- Secondary Education - English (B.A.)
- Secondary Education - Mathematics (B.A.)
- Secondary Education - Social Studies (B.A.)
Additionally, the following Certification programs have been accredited or recognized by their national associations:
- Deaf Education (The Council on Education of the Deaf and The Council for Exceptional Children)
- Early Childhood (The National Association for the Education of Young Children)
- Elementary Education (The Association for Childhood Education International)
- Physical Education: K-12 (National Association of Sports and Physical Education)
