The Department of Interpretation is pleased to announce the establishment of a new research center dedicated to the investigation of interpretation and translation products and processes. The Interpretation and Translation Research Center embraces both theoretical and empirical interdisciplinary research.
The new research center provides a rich opportunity for scholars and students to interact, both onsite and online, for the purpose of collaboration and enhancing individual projects. Graduate students from the longstanding MA in Interpretation, and from the newly established PhD in interpretation work in conjunction with established researchers in the field from within the department and around the US and abroad.

Current projects cover a range of topics, including linguistic analyses of Tactile ASL and Deaf Blind interpreting, investigations of interactive interpreting based on naturalistic data of interpreters in a variety of settings including medical, educational, and legal; survey research on legal interpreting, linguistic analyses of fingerspelling and depiction in ASL.
