Course Registration
Your first semester courses will be scheduled after the Academic Advising Office has received your ACT or SAT scores and Placement Test scores. You will take English, Math, and ASL Placement Tests during New Student Orientation (NSO) if you have not done so earlier. It is very important that you have paid the three mandatory fees (admissions, NSO and, if you are living on campus, housing deposit fees) and sent all your medical forms (health and immunization records) to the Student Health Service. Without receipt of the above fees and the medical forms and Placement Test scores, the Academic Advising Office cannot register you for your courses. Students enrolling the fall semester will also need to fill out the "Student Checklist" on my.gallaudet.edu. Students enrolling in the spring do not need to fill out the "Student Checklist" as academic advisors will work with them to schedule courses, either through email or after their arrival. Refer to the "Computer User Account" document to set up your computer account and for instructions.
During NSO, you will meet briefly with your academic advisor to review your course schedule and again within a month to discuss your possible field of study at Gallaudet and draft an academic plan.
Some state Vocational Rehabiliation agencies require a copy of your course schedule before they will provide VR services. If your VR agency requires it, then you must complete your Placement Tests at your school with a Gallaudet-designated test proctor in March/April; schedule an individual visit to the Gallaudet campus to take the Placement Tests before NSO; or make arrangements with the placement testing coordinator for off-site testing.
