Family Orientation

We offer two Family Orientation programs, one in July during JumpStart Program and one in August during New Student Orientation (NSO). During orientation, family members learn about campus departments and services. Some featured departments include the Departments of Public Safety, Campus Life, Academic Advising, and Student Financial Services. The most popular workshop for both Family Orientation programs is the student panel with current students sharing their experiences and perceptions on college life.

Program Cost/Registration
There is no registration fee for Family Orientation.  Families need to fill out the Family Orientation registration form online and send it in.  After upon receipt of the form, we will receive a confirmation packet with more information about Family Orientation.

Gallaudet University Kellogg Conference Hotel
Rooms are available at the Kellogg Conference Hotel on campus at discount room rates for families during Orientation. Make your reservations early for the discounts. Places to Eat
Family members who register for Family Orientation eat meals at the Bon Appetit (University Dining Hall) or at the Marketplace. Meals are available for purchase at the Marketplace in the Student Academic Center, the Bistro Cafe at the Kellogg Conference Hotel, or at the Bon Appetit. Other choices include the food court at Union Station, a seven-minute drive from the campus, or other nearby restaurants.

Spring 2014
There is no family orientation for the spring semester. You are, however, more than welcome to contact the Admissions Office to schedule campus appointments for you.
