Developmental English
Reading: Read and identify survival words in English.
Vocabulary: Acquire vocabulary knowledge consisting of at least 200 words.
Writing: Write the English alphabet in an orderly manner. Write personal information accurately.
Critical Thinking: Identify and memorize facts, terms, basic concepts, visual cues, and answers.
Technical Skills: Develop skill in in word processing and making slide presentations.
Communication Skills: Develop survival skills in both written English and ASL adequate for functioning in both academic and everyday environments.
Cross-cultural Awareness: Create slideshows/presentations or final projects to manifest cultural diversity.

Level I
Reading: Read English at the low novice level as adapted from the ACTFL / CEFR proficiency guidelines.
Vocabulary: Acquire vocabulary knowledge consisting of at least 340 words.
Writing: Write English at the low novice level as adapted from the ACTFL / CEFR proficiency guidelines. Compose basic sentences.
Critical Thinking: Recall and understand facts, terms, basic concepts, visual cues, and answers.
Technical Skills: Develop skill in doing basic research and making presentations.
Communication Skills: Develop low novice skills in both written English and ASL adequate for functioning in both academic and everyday environments.
Cross-cultural Awareness: Create slideshows/presentations or final projects to manifest cultural diversity.

Level II
Reading: Read English at the novice level as adapted from the ACTFL / CEFR proficiency guidelines.
Vocabulary: Acquire vocabulary knowledge consisting of at least 960 words.
Writing: Write English at the novice level as adapted from the ACTFL / CEFR proficiency guidelines. Compose one-paragraph narratives with a topic sentence, supporting details, and a conclusion.
Critical Thinking: Explain facts and ideas by organizing, interpreting, providing descriptions, and stating main ideas.
Technical Skills: Develop skill in doing basic research and making presentations.
Communication Skills: Enhance novice skills in both written English and ASL adequate for functioning in both academic and everyday environments.

Level III
