The recommended course sequence for majors and pre-majors is:

FALL SPRING
Sophomore ENG 250 ENG 208,
one elective
Junior Two core courses (with one being ENG 399),
one elective
Two core courses,
one elective
Senior Two core courses (with one being ENG 493),
one elective, and the internship
Two core courses,
one elective



Courses offered in fall semesters are:

  • ENG 250
  • ENG 399 (for sophomores and juniors only)
  • On a two-year rotation cycle: ENG 405 or ENG 435
  • ENG 493 (for seniors only)
  • 1-2 Major Elective Courses


Courses offered in spring semesters are:

  • ENG 208
  • On a two-year rotation cycle: ENG 403 or ENG 433
  • 1-2 Major Elective Courses

Note that this may change pending faculty availability and student registration. ** Each major identifies an internship that he or she would like to apply for; after getting the internship approved by the Major/Minor Coordinator and/or Dept. chair and getting accepted into the internship, the student then works with the Internship Coordinator, Dr. Christopher Heuer, to set up an individualized syllabus and course section of ENG 320.
