Ed.S. in Deaf Education


  • Official transcripts of all graduate study. International applicants should review this page on how to submit their transcript(s).
  • A minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a four-point scale) in all previous undergraduate and graduate study. (Occasionally, applicants with a GPA lower than 3.0 may be admitted conditionally upon the recommendation of the department.)
  • A non-refundable application fee of $75.
  • A completed graduate school application form.

  • TOEFL is required from all international applicants from non-English speaking countries. (Use 5240 for the ETS institutional code)
  • Three letters of recommendation.
  • If you are offered admission: The immunization laws for the District of Columbia require all students to provide proof of immunization prior to enrolling. Please visit the Student Health Services website for more information.

Additional Program Requirements

  • A master's degree from an accredited institution with a grade point average of 3.0 or better.
  • At least three years of successful experience with deaf and hard of hearing students (as shown in supporting documentation from applicant's supervisor).
  • Evidence of satisfactory ASL proficiency (e.g., ASLPI scoring report, SCPI scoring report, or videotexts).
