The Department of Interpretation is a vibrant home for students, faculty, and colleagues to examine the products and processes of interpretation and translation, with specific focus on products and processes of the work.
A critical mission of the Department of Interpretation is to create and share research about signed language interpreting and translation for the advancement of these practices. Students and faculty are engaged in a number of interrelated research and program initiatives related to research through DOI faculty research, BAI Student Research, MAI Student Research, and PhD Student Research.
Doctoral students in the Department of Interpretation are paired with contributing scholars who offer their expertise and guidance to students' development as emerging scholars. Visiting Scholars enhance the climate of academic discourse through collaboration on research studies both at the national and international level.
