No WDL Scholarships will be given in 2014, so no applications are currently being accepted. Instead, the focus is on supporting current WDL Scholars at Gallaudet.
World Deaf Leadership Fund
The World Deaf Leadership (WDL) Scholarship is an endowed scholarship funded by the Nippon Foundation, Tokyo, Japan. The purpose of the WDL Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to Gallaudet students with financial need from developing nations. Gallaudet will select WDL Scholars who demonstrate the ability to become international leaders and make significant contributions to their nation and possibly the world. The scholarship will cover tuition, room, board, and up to two internships abroad.
Do you want to get a degree from Gallaudet University? Do you want to help deaf people all over the world? If you do, the WDL Scholarship is perfect for you!
If you are interested in getting the scholarship, you must first complete the application process. It is important to include your ideas for a project aimed towards helping deaf people in your home country. Once you have gathered all the required materials for the application, you must put them together and send the completed application to Gallaudet, where a committee of faculty and administrators will review it and decide if you are qualified to become the next World Deaf leadership Scholar to come study, learn, and achieve your project goals.
As you study, you will have a mentor who will work with you every step of the way. You will also have the opportunity to engage in two internship opportunities in your home country. When you graduate from Gallaudet with your diploma, you must return home and begin working to improve the lives of deaf people there through education, government activism, and working with different people in their communities and their homes so that together, you can change lives.
