The student health fee is not the same as the health insurance from the University.

 If you are a full time student you can be seen at student health services.

There is no charge for full time students to to be seen at student health service.

        The student's health insurance is for laboratory tests, referral to a specialist and/or

medications that may be prescribed by your health care provider.

Student health service is not your primary care provider.  

However we will work with your primary health care provider regarding any health issues you may have.

Scheduling Appointments

Students can schedule appointments by contacting student health service at 202-651-5090. A staff member is always available at the front desk from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays. Please do not use the student health service email to schedule appointments. The staff must be able to ask questions regarding the nature of the appointment. The medical information that we obtain will determine if you need to see a health care provider immediately or whether the appointment can be schedule in the near future. Please make sure to bring your Gallaudet ID and your health insurance card with you whenever you are seen at student health service.

Students can email or contact student health services at 202-651-5090 to cancel appointments.

Students seen by student health service are treated with care and respect.  If you have a suggestion(s) for improving service, or if you wish to compliment a member of the staff, please email student health service.

Procedure for the release of medical information

Students that are currently enrolled at Gallaudet University are able to obtain their medical records at no charge. In the event that the student is not currently enrolled at Gallaudet University there will be a fee of $20 to copy and mail or fax (202-651-5743) medical records. Please allow 7- 10 business days for student health service to process your request.

To request medical records, please follow the instructions below:

  1. A consent for release of medical records form must be completed. The link to the consent form is listed below.  The student can email ( or fax (202-651-5743) student health service to request a copy of the form.
  2. The student must show proof of identity by presenting a picture ID ( i.e. Gallaudet University picture ID or a government issued picture ID)
  3. A fee of $20 will be required if not a current Gallaudet University student. Payment can be made by cash or check made payable to Gallaudet University. At this time student health service is unable to accept credit cards.
